Introduction
"When we moved from Scotland we initially thought we would be in Derry for a year... that was five years ago." Brian Gillion, Senior Manager, Learning and Development (Europe), Seagate Technology
Londonderry, also known as Derry is the regional shopping and arts centre for the North West. As one of four cities shortlisted for ‘UK City of Culture 2013’, an ambitious regeneration programme is ongoing to make the Historic Walled City a world -class destination for visitors and citizens alike. House prices in Derry are extremely competitive with a depth of quality and variety. This combined with a great range of schools, acute hospital, and the recreational opportunities provided by the Causeway Coast, Sperrin Mountains and stunning Donegal, all of which create a highly attractive lifestyle choice.

Arts, Culture & Festivals
The city is culturally diverse and a hotbed of creative activity. There are several popular cultural entertainment venues, predominantly located in the city centre, and providing facilities for a huge variety of musical and cultural events. These include the Millennium Forum, the Derry Playhouse, Waterside Theatre, St Columb’s Hall, Verbal Arts Centre and the Nerve Centre. The City also has the award winning Tower Museum as well as other key community-based attractions such as the Museum of Free Derry and the Apprentice Boys of Derry Museum.
There are also major plans for another flagship outdoor venue, the ‘Ebrington Performance Quadrangle’. Its elevated waterside location, scale, setting and the Peace Bridge link will combine to provide an anchor project not just for the Ebrington Arts and Culture Cluster, but for the entire city. The space is being designed so that it can cater for a wide variety of entertainment and performance including film, music, theatre, exhibitions and events.
This is a joyful city filled with celebration and inspiration, which manifests itself in the sheer number and quality of our festivals and events throughout the year. Energetic, outward looking and high-spirited, this is truly a City for all seasons. A few of the many highlights of the 26 major events for 2010 include the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival, Halloween Carnival, St. Patrick’s Spring Carnival, Foyle Film Festival, Big Tickle Comedy Festival and Maiden City Festival.
